Description
Today, is the 40th anniversary of Robin… not the Robin I usually draw, one I adored long ago in my childhood years- this is Robin Hood, the DISNEY version! And before I move on, I’ll mention that I knew The Fox before I knew the Human… Legend.
The film (which came out on November 8th 1973) is probably one of my classic favorites from “Walt Disney Feature Animation”: it is funny, wonderful, adventurous, and other adjectives probably. Another great element to the flick is that every individual of the inhabitants is an anthropomorphic animal (almost like Redw… Something I’ll draw for fan-art later). The characters are all lovable as well. The wacky & medieval nature of the film serves as inspiration for a fairy tale adaption I hope to make in the future- although the characters are human and not animen… “Animal humans” if you thought I meant Anime.
Here is a fun fact, a lot of animation movements from past Disney movies had to be reused due to time & budget (especially with characters like “Little John” & “Hiss” having similarities with “Baloo” & “”)
I drew the art on… Sunday I believe, or Monday. Well, I used pencil first before sharpieing it. Of course, out of all the characters (which are Robin Hood & Maid Marian the Foxes, Little John the Bear, Skippy the Rabbit/Bunny, Sheriff of Nottingham/Sherwood Forrest who is a Wolf, Prince John the Lion & his snake friend Sir Hiss), I forgot to put one important & really memorable character; whom I was planning to put on the illustration… The Narrator/Rooster! I thankfully remembered, be he remains the only character on here not done in pencil. The Rooster (Alan-a-Date) is one of the best narrators in entertainment history.
Happy forty years to this 70s classic! Art by / Noah Evans- and non-profit. Disney.
