I have gotten back into the “Sonic the Hedgehog“ video game characters, but I still prefer “Mario & Friends” over it. They are both great series, with great characters. And why not a better way to draw another tribute to both franchises, then by doodling the two classic famous sidekicks. They are, “Luigi Mario” & “Miles “Tails” Prower the Fox”.

Luigi: He’s green, he’s fun, he is kind and sweet, First appearing in 1983’s “Mario Bros” platform arcade, he has become a phenomenon since then. I played MB on the NES at my friends’ house, and that’s sort of how I was n=introduced to… “The green person”, his name didn’t stick in my head. I re-met the character playing “Mario Party 5” for the Nintendo GameCube, and he sort of became my favorite. Well, at the time I favored “green” characters. But, I grew attached to him overtime. Luigi has had about four solo games, important moments in TV shows (which became internet and YouTube Poop memes), and was a brave lead in the 1993 Sci-fi film adaptation of the video games.

Tails:  When I got into Sonic, I felt right away that SONIC was my favorite character. However, I started to get found of the two-tailed yellow fox (first introduced in 1992's Sonic 2). I tried to deny it, but it.. well, is not easy. I did at one point wish Tails was more…  Bad… Tailed. Well, around of the order-aged Sonic characters were not just tough, but praised because of it. And Tails was really maligned like fox-poo because he was a cute friendly whimsical character. But, I realized that wouldn’t do, and how I forgot WHY I liked him in the first place. He is nice, pleasant, intelligent, creative, and always optimistic about situations… well; he can get angry and doubtful like any real person.  In conclusion, I have accepted that he is my all-time favorite Sonic character. I was happy years back to discover that he had his own games, “Tails Adventure” and “Tails Sky Patrol” for the Sega-Game-Gear and “Tails and the Music Maker” for some leapfrog rip-off system. The two GG games are a reason why I bought “Sonic Adventure DX”… but I unfortunately never unlocked them. but, I recently bought and read the Sonic Universe comic/graphic novel based off the TA game, and I really enjoyed that one. I really hope a new Tails solo game is made, and features all of his arch-enemies (and have Tails-Doll as the main surprise antagonist). Tails is also lovable in the TV programs. The DIC ones are adorable, while the anime “Sonic X” one is likeable and… sadly has a heart-breaking moment.

Art: I wanted to draw a picture of Luigi & Tails, but wanted to have it unique and to be distinguished from other Tails and Luigi pictures. I then thought about and decided to place Luigi in his costume/outfit from the 1993 SMB Movie, where he was portrayed by “John Leguizamo”, yet have the game design. I colored Tails orange to reflect the older games and television cartoons, while having his forehead hair be totally different. I drew Luigi with pencil before sharpieing over him. But Tails, I only did some in pencil.
