Guardian of the Citidel: Knights Kingdom

Anyway, this piece of resistance is centered on The Guardian of the Citadel of Orlan, who guards the magical legendary Heart of the Shield of Ages. He appears during the middle-near end of the theme’s first story, which can be found in the second scholastic Knights-Kingdom book “The Grand Tournament”, and some comics as well as the GBA video game.

WARNING- DESCRIPTION CONTAINS SPOILERS: After rescuing the King, the four knights (Santis the Strong, Red Knight of the Bear. Danju the Clever, Purple Knight of the Wolf.  Jayko the Quick, Blue Knight of the Hawk. And Rascus the Joker, Green Knight of the Monkey) are instructed to go to Orlan to retrieve the Heart of the Shield, a mystical stone that could aid in defeating the dark lord who took over the Kingdom of Morcia.  Before they face the trials of Orlan’s tower The Citadel, a mysterious elderly man shows up and warns them that everyone who has attempted to gain the heart ended up failing to. However, the courageous Knights persevere on. Their trials include a stone that Santis breaks, a trap Danju avoids, axes Jayko zooms past- but also a giant serpent that nearly ate him because of his foolishness, and a tower in which Rascus climbs. After all of that, they finally come face to face with the armored Guardian, who was guarding the heart. After Danju explains and pleas for the item, the Guardian reveals himself to be the old man whom the foursome met at the gate. He gives Danju the heart, which is used by Jayko to win the Tournament.

The Guardian appeared as a mini-figure in the set “Citadel of Orlan”, in which he was brown instead of his regular color. There were never action-figures released of neither his elderly form nor his cool armor suit.

For the artwork, I tried to mimic the look of a stain glass window. I also tried to be symmetrical… even with pencil and a ruler, I failed. However, it does look cool. The picture tells the story, with the Guardian, his Elder appearance, and the heart in the middle. Each corner has one of the four knights, and each of the two pictures on each side of the man showcases the trail in which that particular faced.
